Tami Hoag captured my attention once again in the book Deeper than the Dead.  This novel held my attention from beginning to end.  I had many assumptions of who the killer was throughout the book, but they were all wrong!

At first, I thought Frank Farman was the killer.  After reading a little more into the book, I decided that he was too obvious of a choice.  He did turn out to be a murderer, but he didn’t kill all of the women.  He only killed his wife.  I never suspected his son.  However, Dennis was one of the reasons I suspected Frank at the beginning.

Next, I suspected Janet Crane.  It seemed likely that the killer would turn out to be a women because everyone assumed it was a man.  Janet liked to be in control, so she became a suspect in my mind.  Of course, she wasn’t the killer either.  I suspected her up until the very end.

I suspected many other characters, but the two above were the main two.  I really didn’t expect the ending that occurred!  When the detectives finally discovered what the marks on the women meant, I thought for sure my prediction that Janet was the killer would turn out to be true.  I never suspected Peter Crane.

I liked most of the things about this book.  One thing I didn’t like was how it jumped perspectives so much.  There were so many perspectives from so many different characters that it was difficult to follow.

Overall, great book!
